Upgrading from Team Foundation Server Beta 2
If you'd like to start a new project using Team Foundation Server 2010 Beta 2 now, you might wonder whether this is a good idea. Microsoft has announced that there will be a public RC of both Visual Studio 2010 and Team Foundation Server 2010 "soon" (mid-February is my best guess; RTM is set for April 12).
However, it will be possible to upgrade smoothly from the Beta 2 software to the RC and even to the RTM — including TFS. As I understand it from this post on MSDN, the database format of TFS Beta 2 and RC/RTM will not change, and so the upgrade will be primarily a matter of uninstalling Beta 2 and installing RC, if you follow proper procedure.
Nice!
